Vancouver 2010
Athlete's village. We provide them the amenities to keep in shape. This is a relic of the area's industrial past, preserved among the glassy condos. No idea what it'll be used for. The seawall through the Olympic Village is totally awesome. This is a bridge over a narrow inlet of water. The bridge again. 360 … Continue reading Vancouver 2010
What Do Olympics Protesters Want?
This is from the protest yesterday, which started at the art gallery and moved down to BC Place to welcome the olympic opening ceremonies. This guy takes it upon himself to go to the protesters and ask them about their causes. Pretty interesting. And yeah, I'm watching the footage on CTV News and listening to … Continue reading What Do Olympics Protesters Want?
Drink of the Death Squads
Catchy! This is my kinda protest. And FYI, the downtown Skytrain Stations have been thoroughly branded. McDonald's has Burrard, Coke has Granville, GE has Vancouver City Centre, and so on. You haven't lived 'til you've seen a fifteen billboard spread of Big Macs.

Shebeen
Ah, I love Gastown sometimes. Next time my brother's in town, I'm going to take him to Shebeen. It's a little bar with the craziest list of whiskeys I've ever seen, and it's hidden in a courtyard accessible only by passing through the Irish Heather, a bigger, rowdier, pub-ish bar. We used to go to … Continue reading Shebeen
Water
Water! is a Google Maps mashup displaying all the public water fountains in Vancouver. The crazy thing about it is that he does it in drupal, and he builds it from scratch in ten minutes using the admin interface. There's a video. Nifty stuff.
